Cairns Children’s Museum is excited to announce the return of Pi Day: A Celebration of Circles for the fourth consecutive year!
Circle your calendar and mark the date of Sunday, 10 March 2024.
We will be back at Tanks Arts Centre from 9 am-12 pm.
It will be a true math extravaganza inspired by the magical number Pi (π). Pi (π) is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. For any circle, the distance around the edge is a little more than three times the distance across. Pi Day is observed on March 14 (3/14 in the month/day format) since 3, 1, and 4 are the first three digits of π.
Our biggest hits will make their comeback: Bugzy and her whimsical bubble show, spectacular circular art stations, spherical AR magic, and our newest addition, the Pie-Face booth!
As always, admission to our event will be free but we ask those who can to make a gold coin donation.
The goal of the day is for children and adults alike to see that there is math all around us and that learning about it can and should be fun! All aspects of the day will have a circle theme and a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) focus.
