Stop work when mercury hits 28 degrees says CFMEU

Construction workers in Brisbane could be able to 'down tools' if the mercury hits 28 degrees and the humidity reaches 75%, that's if the Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) gets it's way.

Whilst there are 140 commercial contractors and sub contractors who have agreed to apply the policy across southeast Queensland, some say this new rule will create an occupational health and safety nightmare.

Can you imagine if this was the case in Far North Queensland? Nothing would get built!

Over the last 12 months, Brisbane experienced 13 days that would qualify for workers to down tools.
