Ex-US Marine sets new Guinness World Record for Planking

The PLANK - an exercise so-named because, when done properly, you straighten your entire body and maintain it rigidly, just like a plank of wood.

For most of us, 60 seconds planking feels like an eternity. But retired US Marine, 62 year old, George Hood has put us all to shame, setting a new Guinness World Record and planking for 8 hours, 15 minutes and 15 seconds!!

In 2011, the best record he could set was 1 hour, 20 minutes so he also gets the award for MOST IMPROVED!

He revealed the intense training program he undertook to achieve the staggering result.
“It’s 4-5 hours a day in the plank pose,” he told CNN. “Then I do 700 push-ups a day, 2,000 sit-ups a day in sets of a hundred, 500 leg squats a day. For upper body and the arms, I do approximately 300 arm curls a day.”
