Could Kuranda Scenic Railway be used for public transport?
That's what FNQ local, Mercy Graham would like to see.
The petition Mercy has created two days ago at Change.org.au asks that the Kuranda Scenic Railway extend its services to provide a form of public transport for locals to get to and from Kuranda.
"Young people are missing out on the history of this railway, the elderly are trapped in Kuranda as they won’t drive the range, the wildlife is also not being protected", the petition reads.
It went on to say, "...it would also add to the tourist experience, of seeing locals interact, travel and participate in their community. People who move to the area could also catch it and go to work in Cairns or Kuranda!"
At the time of writing this blog, the petition had gathered just over 400 signatures.
Do you think this is a good idea?
