Technology: Pandemic fuels demand for robots to work in stores
It looks like we could be getting closer to having personal droids like R2D2 from Star Wars, or even the Robot from Lost in Space.
The global pandemic has brought on a need for us to limit human interactions, and retailers are turning to robots to perform essential tasks in their stores in order to cut costs and reduce the spread of coronavirus.
While the future for robotics seems to be closer than ever, this could pose an issue for human employment but the industry experts feel that jobs definitions will "shift" rather than be done away with altogether.
One thing is for sure, I'm not trusting them until they can get "Siri" to listen to me without saying "I'm sorry I didn't catch that" or 'sure.. searching for purple bananas" when clearly I asked for the nearest rest stop.
