A 39-year-old Cairns man is facing child exploitation material charges.
Cairns Child Protection and Investigation Unit detectives together with detectives from Argos executed a search warrant at a Woree home on Tuesday.
Detectives located a quantity of child exploitation material on a mobile phone and computer at the residence.
The mobile phone and computer were seized, and the man was arrested and conveyed to the Cairns Watchhouse.
He has been charged with two counts of possess child exploitation material and one count of using a carriage service to make available child abuse material.
The man was released on strict bail conditions and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on September 18.
Officer in Charge of the Cairns District CPIU Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Gooiker says protecting vulnerable young people is the top priority for police.
“We continue to investigate all reports of offences against children, and arrest and charge alleged offenders within the full force of the law,” he says.
“We encourage anyone with information about this type of offence, to come forward and speak to our specialist officers.”
