A search and rescue for a woman missing in waters at Mossman Gorge has turned into a recovery operation, according to police.
The 54-year-old tourist was last seen in distress about 2pm on Friday.
Police divers and swift water rescue have found no signs of the woman since she was swept downstream in the Mossman River.
Specialist police, SES and other emergency services are continuing the search.
The river is known to be dangerous due to strong undercurrents and is prone to rising fast without warning.
