Weapon and traffic charges, Trinity Park
A 62-year-old Trinity Park man was charged yesterday following a traffic intercept at Smithfield.
Officers observed the man driving a utility on the Captain Cook Highway around 8.30am.
The vehicle was intercepted, and the man was found to be driving whilst under a licence disqualification.
Further inquiries resulted in a search warrant being executed at his home address, where two firearms were allegedly located and seized.
It will be alleged the man did not hold a weapons licence authorising him to possess firearms.
He was issued with a notice to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on August 25, where he is expected to face charges of driving whilst disqualified and unlawful possession of Category A weapons.
