Girl charged over Westcourt robbery incident

A 16-year-old White Rock girl was charged on Friday as a result of investigations into an incident at a Westcourt address in January.

It will be alleged that a girl aged 17 and a 19-year-old man were at the address on January 27 when a group of people, some of whom were known to the couple, arrived at the address and gained entry.

It is further alleged that some of the group then assaulted both victims by kicking and punching them before stealing the girl’s phone.

The group then left the address and the incident was later reported to police.

The girl sustained bruising and swelling as a result of the incident.

Detectives spoke with the 16-year-old on Friday evening and she was charged with one count of robbery.

She will be dealt with under the provisions of The Youth Justice Act.
