Court for man charged over Bentley Park robbery


A 27-year-old Cairns man was charged yesterday as a result of investigations into a burglary related incident at Bentley Park last month.

It will be alleged that entry was gained to a Golden Grove Drive home in the early hours of May 23.

Car keys, cash, computer gaming equipment and other items were stolen before the keys were used to steal a sedan from the address.

At around 9am yesterday, Cairns Tactical Crime Squad officers located and arrested the man at Cairns North.

He was charged with one count each of burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlicenced driving, and possession of a knife in public.

The man is expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court later this morning.

The stolen vehicle has not yet been located.

It is a blue 2003 model Mazda 323 sedan, and when stolen was bearing Queensland registration 828-XQX.
