Burglary and vehicle theft charges, White Rock

A 16-year-old White Rock boy was arrested and charged on Wednesday as part of ongoing investigations into a recent burglary incident at White Rock.

It will be alleged thieves forced entry to a Progress Road residence overnight on Sunday July 26 and stole two sets of car keys and two handbags.

The stolen keys were then used to steal two vehicles which were parked in the driveway of the residence.

One of the stolen vehicles was located parked on a Gordonvale Street on Tuesday afternoon.

The vehicle was seized for forensic examination.

Investigations led Cairns CIB detectives to a White Rock address Wednesday morning where the 16-year-old boy was located and taken into custody.

He was charged with one count each of burglary and unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is expected to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court.

The second stolen vehicle remains outstanding. It is a 2012 Subaru Impreza hatchback.

It is silver in colour and when stolen was bearing Qld registration 731SZE.
