Grievous bodily harm charge, Earlville
Cairns CIB detectives have charged a 38-year-old Earlville man with one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.
Police allege the man was involved in an argument with a 53-year-old man known to him at a property in Yarrum Street Earlville at about 9pm Sunday.
It’s alleged the verbal argument escalated to a physical dispute which led to the 38-year-old allegedly striking the older man in the head with a machete.
The 38-year-old is alleged to have sought assistance from a neighbour before fleeing.
The 53-year-old man sustained a serious head wound and was conveyed to hospital for treatment.
The 38-year-old man returned to the scene later and was arrested by police.
He is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates court on Monday.
