Appeal for information over Yarrbah double fatal crash
Police are calling for help to help piece together what caused a crash that left two people dead and four others injured near Cairns.
It understood two cars collided on a bend at Yarrabah on Saturday night just before 8:30pm.
Two men, one aged in his 20s the other in his 50s, died and the scene.
Two women and one man were taken to hospital with serious injuries while a women in her 40's was treated for minor injuries.
Police Inspector Brad Winks wants anyone with any information regarding the crash to contact them.
"We fear alcohol and speed may be contributing factors to the incident occurring," Inspector Winks said.
"But at this stage we're really looking forward to having anyone coming forward who may be able to give us any information about what they may have seen or hear prior to the traffic accident."
Inspector Winks said unfortunately it's a tragic reminder for people to drive carefully.
"The responsibility for careful driving is on everyone and even if its an area that probably more associated [with] recreation we still need to be very care on how we drive and interact with other vehicles on the road."
