Thousands of homes left without power
UPDATE: Power has been restored to almost 3000 homes after fallen powerlines caused a blackout across a number of Cairns suburbs.
Ergon Energy believes a high-load vehicle brought down lines at around 5.30am on Monday, but the driver hasn't been found.
Power was cut to homes in Goldsborough, Gordonvale, Little Mulgrave and Murgon.
Ergon Energy spokesperson Ty Marega says crews quickly restored power to most customers within an hour.
It is now up to police to investigate whether a driver is to blame, Mr Marega says.
"They usually check CCTV to see if there was a traffic crash''.
Nearly three thousand homes are without power this morning in the Cairns region.
A fallen power line has caused the loss of supply that is affecting 2816 homes in Goldsborough, Gordonvale, Little Mulgrave and Murgon.
Ergon crews are on-site trying to restore power, but it's unknown when it will be fixed.
