Arrest made following Westcourt burglary
A boys has been charged over the burglary of a Westcourt home.
Police were contacted after the boy was spotted allegedly attempting to gain entry to a Collinson Street home at 11.30am yesterday.
A description of the offender was provided to police that assisted with finding him a short time later in Curtain Street.
It will be alleged the boy gained entry to the home after forcing open a window, before he stole cash and keys.
He then allegedly damaged and stole a security camera from the backyard.
When located, the boy allegedly had keys to the home and cash in his possession along with a screwdriver and dangerous drugs.
He was arrested and later charged with burglary, stealing, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of house-breaking implements and outstanding matters which included fraud, receiving tainted property and two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
His bail was denied and he is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Children’s Court this month.
