Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced the Coalition Government's commitment to improving the lives of indigenous Australians through connectivity.

A $30 million spend in this year's federal budget has been allocated to improving mobile and internet connectivity in indigenous communities right across the country.

Mr. Morrison says the funding comes under the Coalition Government's Connecting Regional Australia initiative.

The increased connectivity funding aims to reach what the PM says is an important target in the National Agreement, known as Target 17, which is to equal levels of digital inclusion for Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people by 2026.

He says achieving this with new mobile base stations, community wifi and high speed broadband will increase conomic opportunities, helping to close the gap for opportunities between indigenous and non-indigenous communities.
