UPDATE | Manhunt For Suspected Armed Man Now Over

UPDATE | Police have tracked down and arrested a man accused of crashing a stolen car into a tree at Brinsmead overnight.

Officers focused their search efforts on the suburb of Aeroglen early Thurdsay morning.

At around 8.40am, detectives approached a residence on Palmerston Street at Aeroglen and watched as a man ran off.

The 27-year-old Goldsborough (via Gordonvale) man was taken into custody at the scene.

He is now  being questioned.

A woman has also been charged with one count each of possession of a dangerous drug, possession of a thing used in the commission of a crime and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

She is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on July 27.

EARLIER | A 30-year-old woman from Mount Sheridan has been charged, after a manhunt was sparked by a crash in Brinsmead.

Police say she was a passenger in a stolen utility that crashed into a tree in the vicinity of Glenoma Park, after refusing to stop for Police.

The man behind the wheel ran off and still has not been tracked down.  Officers think he may be armed.

The vehicle, which was allegedly stolen from the Atherton Tablelands in February, was seized for forensic examination.

Officers arrested the woman at the scene and a search of her handbag allegedly located a quantity of methylamphetamine and a set of scales.

She was subsequently charged with one count each of possession of a dangerous drug, possession of a thing used in the commission of a crime and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

The woman is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on July 27.

EARLIER | Police need our help to find a man who refused to stop for them in Brinsmead on Wednesday night.

They say a stolen car crashed into a tree on Reservoir Road at around 7.30pm.

The driver was last seen near parkland around Glenoma Park and may be in possession of a firearm.

Police also believe the man may have been injured as a result of the crash.

He is described as Caucasian, 175cm tall, with a heavy build, blonde hair and brown eyes. He also has a tattoo across his upper chest.

Anyone who sees the man is urged not to approach him but to contact Triple Zero (000) immediately.
