Two Men Charged Over Car Theft At Westcourt
Two men have been charged following the location of an allegedly stolen vehicle at a Westcourt motel complex early Wednesday morning.
Uniformed first-response officers observed a utility driving along Mulgrave Road at Westcourt at around 2am yesterday morning. The officers recognised the vehicle as being similar in
appearance to one stolen from a Greenslopes Street address on New Year’s Eve.
The vehicle was seen to enter the car park and further inquiries led officers to a motel unit where entry was initially denied by the occupants. Entry was subsequently gained to the unit and several people were detained.
A search of the unit allegedly uncovered quantities of methylamphetamine, as well as drug utensils and other drug related paraphernalia.
A 38-year-old Whitfield man was arrested and charged with three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle as well as single counts of possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug utensils and stealing.
He is expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on Thursday.
A 20-year-old Kuranda man was charged with possession of a drug utensil and is due to appear in the same court later this month.
Another 39-year-old Manunda man was charged in relation to the stolen utility on Sunday and is also scheduled to appear in the same court on February 4.
