Teen Faces Serious Charges

A 19-year-old Manunda man has been slapped with a string of charges including evade police and possess a knife in a public place.

He has also been charged with possess a house breaking instrument by night, possess property suspected stolen, possess dangerous drug, drive unregistered, drive uninsured, false number plate, unlicenced driving and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Police allege at about 1.30AM on Sunday, officers followed a silver sedan driven by the man on Jensen Street, Edgehill, before the 19-year-old allegedly accelerated off.

Officers caught up with the teen on Reservoir Road, Whitfield after rolling out the tyre spikes.  

It is alleged police located drugs, house breaking implements and clothing suspected of being used at other break offences during a search of the vehicle.

The teenager was taken to the Cairns Watchhouse and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on Monday.
