Boy Hit By Car In Cairns
A boy has been hit by a car in the Cairns CBD overnight.
The accident happened on Lake Street at 10.45PM on Thursday.
The 12-year-old was taken to Cairns Hospital with a significant ankle injury and leg injuries.
Critical Care Paramedic Valerie Noble said it is believed the boy was playing tag with some mates, ducking in and out of the bus stop area.
She said it was lucky that the area they were playing in has a speed limit of 30 km/hr.
The boy stepped out in front of the car, got a fright, turned and was hit. He collapsed onto the pavement and suffered some abrasions and avoided any major fractures.
He has since been cleared of breaking bones.
