Good Samaritan Sought Following Attempted Robbery

Police are keen to speak to a Good Samaritan who helped a woman who was the victim of an attempted robbery in Gordonvale.

A 57-year-old Gordonvale woman was walking along Davids Street, between Highleigh Road and Campbell Street at around 8.30pm on Friday May 17, when she was approached by three teenage boys who attempted to steal her handbag.

The woman managed to fend them off with her umbrella and hang onto her handbag.

At the same time, a four-wheel-drive turned into Davids Street from Highleigh Road, causing the offenders to run off.

The male driver stopped his vehicle and assisted the woman. He is described as having a New Zealand accent and detectives are interested in identifying and speaking with him in relation to the alleged incident.

This witness, or anyone who may know his identity is urged to make contact via Police Link on 131444. Police reference QP1900967262.

A 15-year-old Holloways Beach boy was arrested over the incident last Thursday.
