In the two weeks our Optus Raise the Bar Community Awards were open, we received an extraordinary number of stories of generosity, kindness, but above all else a true showing of Community. 

• Kelly Chamberlain is taking home $10,000 to continue her incredible work with Cairns PCYC, particularly the After Dark program. 

• The Food Pantry at Gordonvale EYC is also a receiving $10,000 grant for their outstanding work in providing healthy, hearty meals, even amid the rising cost of living. 

• Fresh Start Barber Academy will receive $500 for their fantastic efforts in supporting kids who are disengaged from traditional schooling. 

• Heidi Heeman is being recognised for their dedication to supporting the disabled community and promoting access and inclusion for people with disabilities, and for that deserves $500! 

Of course, a huge shoutout to everyone who nominated someone or who was nominated. Cairns and the Far North would not be what it is without you.
