Boy airlifted to Townsville Hospital in critical condition after crash in Far North

A young boy has been airlifted to Townsville University Hospital and is now in a critical condition, following a serious two-vehicle crash on the Captain Cook Highway, near Hollaways Beach in the Far North.

Just after 7pm yesterday, paramedics were called to the scene where multiple patients were assessed.

A primary school aged boy with significant head injuries was taken to Cairns Hospital before he was airlifted by helicopter to Townsville University Hospital.

One man in his 50s with minor injuries was also assessed on scene but declined transport to hospital. A man in his 40s was taken to Cairns Hospital and a young girl with abdominal injuries was also transported to Cairns Hospital in a stable condition.
