This Road Safety Week, the Queensland Fire Department has drawn attention to the emotional impact that road crashes have on emergency personnel.
So far this year, QFD crews have responded to 10,000 crashes across Queensland, including 10 fatal crashes in Far North Queensland.
Chief Superintendent Jason Lawler says road safety is everyone’s responsibility, urging drivers to consider the consequences of their actions on the road.
It comes after police have launched an investigation into a fatal crash in White Rock, where a 70-year-old man was found unresponsive on Yangoora Street last Friday after falling from his bicycle. He suffered a serious head injury, was taken to Cairns Hospital, and has since died.
