Man accused of throwing bag of stolen meat at security guard

A 37-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly throwing stolen bags of groceries at a security guard in Cairns City.

Authorities were called to a Grocery Store on McLeod Street on Wednesday afternoon (April 29) following reports a man had stolen hundreds of dollars worth of meat.

It’s alleged the offender fled the scene on foot before throwing the bags of meat at a security worker.

He was later apprehended by police, allegedly found with a screwdriver.

He appeared in Cairns Magistrates Court yesterday (April 30).
