The Out of the Shadows Walk is a free public event to create a space for open conversation and information sharing in relation to suicide, including those with a lived experience.
The walk will commence at 6.00 am at the Cairns Hospital Healing Gardens and will proceed along the Cairns Esplanade accompanied by the sounds of the Soul Song Choir to the Western High-Water Pier.
A Reflection will be read to remember those lost to suicide and acknowledge those bereaved by suicide.
This will be followed by a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony carried out by a Traditional Custodian.
A lived experience speaker will share their story, there will be a free sausage sizzle at the Seagull BBQ on the Western Lawn and time for community connection.
All are welcome.
