South Side Celebration
South Side Celebration is back for another FREE fun-filled afternoon of family friendly entertainment.
Children can put themselves to the test against “Containment Breach”, Cairns’ biggest and most dynamic multi-stage inflatable obstacle course! Meanwhile, younger children can tackle the “T-Rex Takeover” jumping castle.
We’ll have a petting zoo, two FREE face painters, Bugzy Bumblebee with her bubble love fun and Roaming Wild with their interactive animal display. Keep your eyes peeled for the Act for Kids mascot, Emmy, who will be roaming around the event. Be sure to stop and say hi!
Come by the Communities for Children stall to join in the collaborative art project. Stop by the Benevolent Society stall to join in traditional country games such as egg-and-spoon and sack races. Southside Comets will be on the field providing fun games and soccer drills while basketball activities will be held on the basketball court. Of course we’ll also have plenty of information stalls, emergency services vehicles, food vans and a free sausage sizzle!
This year’s stage program will include new acts and old favourites including Zumba with Nerine, interactive line dancing with 2 Left Boot Scooters, CYCAS Circus, Cairns Southside Youth Concert Band, and Drum Mugendai performing Japanese Taiko drumming. Stay tuned for the full list of times and performances.
We’re teaming up once again with Cairns Regional Council who will be hosting a FREE Open Air Movie Night at Ravizza Park straight after the daytime event. The movie announcement is coming soon! Bring your picnic blanket and make the most of a full afternoon and evening of free entertainment in the park. This is a Queensland Child Protection Week event supported by the Queensland Government and Cairns Regional Council.
The South Side Celebration Organising Committee is made up of Mission Australia Communities for Children, Hambledon House Community Centre, Wuchopperen Health Service, Act for Kids, The Benevolent Society, True, Create Foundation, Cairns South Together, Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety.
Protecting children is everybody’s business.
