11-year-old boy charged over alleged vehicle thefts in Cairns

An 11-year-old boy has been arrested after an alleged crime spree, between Edmonton to Edge Hill, which included him stealing vehicles.

It will be alleged the boy was involved in multiple offences across several suburbs between March 2 and March 11.

Police allege the boy stole a vehicle from a Woree address and in the process rammed into another vehicle before fleeing the scene on an electric scooter.

It’s further alleged he stole a vehicle from a Mount Sheridan address and stole fuel from an Edmonton service station a few hours later.

The boy was arrested on Tuesday and charged with 11 offences.

He was charged with four counts of enter dwelling, two counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle, three counts of stealing, and one count each of wilful damage and attempted unlawful use of motor vehicle.

He has been refused bail and will appear before Cairns Children’s Court.
