Four charged over alleged break-in at flood ravaged resort in Cape Tribulation

Four international tourists have been charged following an alleged break in at Ferntree Rainforest Hotel in Cape Tribulation.

It’s alleged around a dozen people attended the property on January 27 and January 28, stealing various property and vehicles.

On Tuesday, officers arrested four men at a Lake Street address.

A 21, 20 and 30 year all man were dealt with via Adult Cautions.

A 22-year-old man was charged with two counts of enter premises and three counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle.

He is due to appear before Cairns Magistrates Court February 9.

Mossman and Port Douglas Police are continuing proactive patrols in flood-affected areas.

Far North District Superintendent Monique Ralph says work is continuing to support communities impacted by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper.

“The Queensland Police Service has a zero tolerance for stealing, especially when parts of our region are still recovering from the disaster.

“If you notice anything suspicious in your area or have information that can assist police with these patrols and investigations, please come forward.”
