Kennedy MP Bob Katter has been reelected for another term following last weekend’s Federal Election, where he took a clear lead in the eight-candidate race – including Australian Workers Union official Sharon Winn, and the LNP’s Annette Swaine.
However, the victory was bittersweet with Mr Katter claiming Labor’s win is bad news for North Queenslanders, after they secured at least 86 seats.
He predicts the standard of living is only going to go downhill, calling it a ‘depressing’ result for the North.
“The very depressing thing for me was the large labor majority which means they will be completely insensitive to the people of Australia.
“They’re safe, they’re secure and no one can touch them for another three years. That’s very, very bad for Australia.”
“Slowly the country will grind to very, very poor….we’re moving downhill with our standard of living in Australia.”
It was Mr Katter’s 13th time contesting his seat, representing Kennedy for 32 years.
