A 37‑year‑old Manunda man has been charged over a violent assault that left a 60‑year‑old man seriously injured in Cairns.
Police allege the man went to a David Street unit around 7.30am on February 25 and attacked a man and woman with a metal pole.
The 60‑year‑old victim was taken to Cairns Hospital with significant injuries, while the woman suffered minor wounds.

The man was arrested two days later in Westcourt, where officers also allegedly found dangerous drugs. He has been remanded in custody and is due to face Cairns Magistrates Court on March 31.
