Far North police say targeted action is paying off, with hundreds of charges laid in a major crackdown on property crime.
Since August 9, officers have arrested 215 people on 907 offences ranging from unlawful use of a motor vehicle and break-and-enter, to bail breaches and weapons charges. Police have also conducted more than 1,000 wanding operations, seizing eight weapons, and completed 325 bail checks.
Recent arrests include a 19-year-old man allegedly linked to several stolen vehicles in Manoora and in Cairns CBD a man allegedly connected to a string of break-ins and stolen vehicles over the past 18 months.
