Robbery, Westcourt

Four teenagers have been arrested and charged following investigations into an alleged robbery that occurred on Sunday (December 4).

Police will allege about 6am a 22-year-old Clifton Beach woman has driven her car into the carpark of a Westcourt shopping centre.

As she has parked and exited her vehicle she was approached by a group of juveniles. One of them allegedly demanded her keys before snatching them from her and entered the vehicle. The woman attempted to stop the juvenile but was allegedly assaulted by another juvenile in the group before they all fled in the woman’s car.

An investigation was commenced following which several alleged offenders were arrested by police.

A 16-year-old Brinsmead boy has been charged with one count each of robbery, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, assault occasioning bodily harm, unlicenced driving and two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

A 13-year-old Edmonton boy has been charged with one count of robbery and two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

A 14-year-old Bentley Park boy has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

A 15-year-old White Rock girl has been charged with one count each of robbery, assault occasioning bodily harm, and two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

All four have been refused police bail and are due to appear before Cairns Childrens Court.

Investigations are continuing.
