A man accused of slashing a security guard with a broken bottle has been arrested in Cairns.
Police were called to a city nightclub following reports of a fight around 2.15am on Tuesday.
It’s alleged security tried to remove a 23-year-old Kuranda man, who then smashed a bottle he was holding and slashed the arm of one of the security officers.
The man was ushered out of the area to avoid further incident and he fled prior to police arrival.
Officers provided first aid to the staff member before he was taken to the Cairns Hospital by ambulance.
Around 2.25am, the man was located at Munro Martin Park and taken into custody.
He was charged with one count each of acts intended to maim / disfigure / disable, possess dangerous drugs and obstruct police.
The man was bailed and he will appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on July 20.
