Virtual Skin Biopsy could be a life saver as melanomas diagnosed daily in Cairns

With at least one melanoma diagnosed every day in Cairns, skin checks have just become easier and smarter as a Far North clinic steps up to lead the way in skin cancer care.

Dr. Vin Rajeswaran from FNQH Cairns Integrated Melanoma Centre has launched Australia’s first Virtual Skin Biopsy. The first of its kind in Australia, it’s a non-invasive way to detect skin cancer, no scalpel or needle required.

The tech offers quicker diagnoses as opposed to waiting 10 days for results to come back. Dr Rajeswaran says it’s set to transform early diagnosis across regional Queensland – where people are three times more likely to die from a melanoma.
