Crime scene declared following Bungalow unit fire

Residents of a unit block at Bungalow have been evacuated and a man has been hospitalised following a fire overnight.

Emergency services rushed to the unit complex on Allan Street at around 12.30am, to reports of a fire in a unit on the second floor.

Residents of the unit block were evacuated by police, and a man in his 50s was taken to Cairns Hospital in a stable condition.

Firefighters had extinguished the blaze by 1.15am.

Police have declared a crime scene and investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
